Army helicopter with two on board crashes

Ozark, Ala. (WTVY) An Army helicopter crashed near Ozark Thursday afternoon, injuring two aviators on board.

“Fort Rucker officials were notified of a mishap with an AH-64 Apache helicopter at Hooper Stage Field. The two-person crew was conducting flight training,” spokesperson David Again said in a news release.

Nobody died in the crash but Again did not release the crew’s condition other than to say they are undergoing medical evaluation.

The crash site is along Andrews Avenue, near the Ozark gate that leads into the Army post.

Fort Rucker trains pilots for all branches of service except for the Navy.
