THE NEWS. AT SIX, THE KENTUCKY STATE FAIR GAVE PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TODAY TO GET UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH ONE OF THE MILITARY’S MOST IMPRESSIVE AIRCRAFT, A UAH 60 BLACKHAWK HELICOPTER HAS BEEN PARKED NEAR LOT IN ALL AFTERNOON. IT BELONGS TO A RESERVE UNIT BASED OUT OF FORT KNOX. FAIRGOERS WERE ALLOWED TO CLIMB INTO THE PILOT’S SEAT, TALK TO MEMBERS OF THE ARMY RESERVE UNIT ABOUT THE HELICOPTER. ORGANIZERS SAY THE DISPLAY IS A USEFUL RECRUITING TOOL, BUT THAT’S NOT ALL. WE’RE USING THIS TO HELP DRIVE SOME OF THE RECRUITING, BUT IT’S ALSO GREAT FOR US TO COME OUT AND TALK WITH THE PUBLIC BECAUSE WE DO FLY IN AND AROUND THEIR LOCAL AREA AND THEY ALWAYS HAVE QUESTIONS LIKE, HEY, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING? The Kentucky State Fair gave people the opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the military's most impressive aircrafts.A UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter was parked at the fair until 6 p.m. Wednesday for fairgoers to see.People were allowed to climb into the pilot's seat and talk to members of the Army reserve unit about the helicopter.The aircraft belongs to a reserve unit based out of Fort Knox.Organizers say the display is a useful recruiting tool, but that's not all."We're using this to drive some of the recruiting, but it's also good for us to talk with the public because we do fly in and around their local area and they always have questions like 'Hey, what are you guys doing?'" said Staff Sgt. Nicholas Malek.This was the first year the Blackhawk has been at the fair.
