September 29, 2022 | Archer Supports the Honeywell Air Mobility Summit

The commercialization of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) will require more than just vision. It will require collaboration with government, regulatory agencies, and industry partners. Collaboration on the magnitude of the recently-held Honeywell Air Mobility Summit on September 21 in Washington D.C. The Summit provided a full day conference for over 200 industry leaders, members of Congress, representatives from the Department of Defense and White House, and regulatory agencies from the U.S. and Europe, followed by tours of a special AAM exhibit in the Honeywell Technology Experience Center (HTEC). Archer participated in an industry panel on UAM Certification, moderated by the Aerospace Industries Association (AIA), and was an exhibitor in the HTEC. Unquestionably impactful, and just the latest in our continued commitment to collaboration.

The Honeywell Air Mobility Summit helped amplify the efforts of our industry, while continuing the focus on education and understanding. Being a global leader in aviation technology, Honeywell has made extensive efforts to support that understanding. So much so, that they created a dedicated facility in the heart of Washington D.C. The Honeywell Technology Experience Center provides an opportunity for attendees to delve deep into discovering the boundaries that are being pushed and how they, along with the companies they partner with, are making it possible.

Archer is one of those companies, dedicated to showing what’s possible in aviation technology. Earlier this year we marked a major step in the development of our production eVTOL aircraft by partnering with Honeywell for the supply of flight control actuation and thermal management technologies. Thermal management technology that will help us provide a best-in-class in-cabin experience for our passengers. A glimpse of that experience was on display at HTEC for the summit’s initial reception.

We were also privileged to have the opportunity to share our progress with additional members of Congress who privately toured HTEC during the summit or in the days following. Following his time on the panel, Dr. Michael Romanowski, Archer Head of Government Relations, was on hand at HTEC to meet with members of Congress and their staff. Also in attendance for the opening of the summit was Bob Ellithorpe, VP of Customer Programs at Archer. Together they furthered our messaging, giving key decision-makers an inside look at the progress throughout our business.

The opportunity to share that progress with government leaders is critical to advancing the commercialization of AAM and to establishing the regulatory framework necessary to make safe, sustainable eVTOL aircraft a reality. The next major milestone on that journey is anticipated to occur next year, upon the passing of the FAA Reauthorization Act of 2023. The FAA Reauthorization Act is a periodic method for Congress to reaffirm the authority of the Federal Aviation Administration, while also providing critical direction from Congress on its priorities, functions and operations, structure, and regulatory framework.

Based on feedback from the Honeywell Air Mobility Summit, ensuring AAM’s path to commercialization is one of those critical priorities. AAM Caucus co-chairs Jay Obernolte (R-8-CA) and Jimmy Panetta (D-20-CA) were both in attendance at the summit, again championing for the support and advancement of this industry. Also in attendance and focused on AAM’s importance and benefit to the nation were House Aviation Subcommittee Chair Rick Larsen (D-2-WA) and Ranking Member Garret Graves (R-6-LA). Several other members of Congress and their staff took the opportunity to tour HTEC and further their understanding of how AAM is poised to strengthen our country’s infrastructure, as well as our global technological standing.

Archer has a vision that reimagines the way we live. It’s a vision of safe, sustainable air travel that’s broadly accessible and impactful. To achieve that vision we’ve assembled one of the most recognised and talented teams in the industry, and dedicated ourselves to collaborating on advancing the industry as a whole.
