WASHINGTON – Today, President Joe Biden announced his intent to nominate Jennifer Homendy for Chair of the National Transportation Safety Board.

Jennifer Homendy has served as a member of the National Transportation Safety Board since August 2018. She has more than 25 years of experience in transportation safety, including nearly two decades supporting the critical safety mission of the NTSB. Prior to her appointment to the Board, Homendy served more than 14 years as Democratic Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines, and Hazardous Materials of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure in the U.S. House of Representatives. She previously held positions with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Transportation Trades Department, AFL-CIO, and American Iron and Steel Institute. Homendy received her B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University and is pursuing a Master of Transportation Safety Administration from the Institute for Global Road Safety and Security at Clemson University. She is a native of Plainville, Connecticut, and currently lives in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with her husband, Michael, and daughter, Alexandra.
