German HEMS operator DRF Luftrettung has announced that, due to the latest developments in the COVID-19 pandemic, it will no longer be able to take part in the European Rotors trade show, which is being held in Cologne between 16 and 18 November.

Dr Krystian Pracz, chairperson of the executive board of DRF Luftrettung, explained why the organisation had found it necessary to change its plans. “We truly regret having to take this decision. However, in light of the rising infection rates, fluctuating intensive-care capacity and the additional demands that may arise from this situation, we want to have all of our personnel and technical resources fully available to fulfil our primary mission.

“We wish to thank the organiser and all partners, customers and others involved for their understanding and hope the trade fair is a great success for all who attend,” he added.

The DRF decision follows an alarming surge in COVID infection rates in Germany over recent days, with the daily figure for new cases reaching an all-time high, more than 50,000, on Thursday 11 November.
