A Wisconsin man accused of assisting the key figures in a plot to kidnap Michigan's governor pleaded guilty Wednesday to a lesser charge and will cooperate with prosecutors.

BAY COUNTY, Mich. (WJRT) - An ex-military pilot will be on probation for a year after threatening to steal a helicopter in an effort to free COVID patients from local hospitals.

72-year-old Jesse McFadden of Omer plead no contest to possessing a loaded firearm in a motor vehicle, punishable by up to two years in prison.

He was sentenced on Monday to one year probation.

Several charges were dropped as part of the plea.

It was back in May 2020, when police say McFadden went to the Coast Guard Station in Bay County to get a helicopter and attack a hospital to release COVID-19 patients.

McFadden was later arrested.
