1 Dead In Hudson Valley Helicopter Crash

New York State police have confirmed multiple reports of a helicopter crash in Hudson Valley.

CORNWALL, NY — One person has died in a helicopter crash at Storm King Mountain State Park in Orange County, New York.

New York State police have confirmed the fatal Hudson Valley helicopter crash near State Route 218 in the town of Cornwall after several posts on social media were shared about it Sunday afternoon.

Gavin Amacher was hiking to the top of the mountain with his girlfriend when he heard the helicopter crash, he told the Mid-Hudson News.

“We heard it fly overhead and then ‘boom,’ explosions and I heard it went down in the gully up there, hit some trees, exploded. It was loud,” Amacher said.

The identity of the fatal victim had not been made public as of 10 p.m. It wasn't immediately known whether anyone else was on the aircraft, or if the crash caused any other damage.
