Small helicopter crashes in Sarasota County near SR 72; officials say occupants safe

Sarasota County sheriff's officials responded to a small helicopter crash on Thursday.

A small Robinson helicopter went down and crashed east off of State Road 72 in Sarasota County, officials said.

Both occupants are safe and were not injured in the crash, sheriff officials said in a tweet.

The Federal Aviation Administration is leading the investigation.
